You have got

to see this card! It is absolutely gorgeous! Becca has to be one of the most talented paper crafters in the blogosphere!

Please say a prayer for

my SIL; Kathy who collapsed at home on Saturday and is now in a coma. This is not the 1st time this has happened to her. She also had an episode in 1993 and again in 1998. After the episode in 1993, she had to have a tracheotomy (breathing tube) inserted to help her breathe. She was eventually weaned off the tracheotomy and was able to breathe on her own again. Unfortunately the scar tissue damaged her vocal cords and caused her voice to change and she now speaks with a raspy voice. Just before she slipped into a coma on Sunday, she did not know either her husband or her son. The doctors do not know what causes these episodes but each time they have occurred, she has been under a lot of stress and overly tired.

Kathy is married to my husband`s brother and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Please give a big welcome to........

my niece, Krista who is a Close To My Heart Consultant. She has decided to start her own blog and has already thrown out a challenge to us all. Leave a comment for her, as I'm sure she loves comments as much as any of us. The card she has posted is really cute.

She also has some exciting news on her CTMH site. There will be a 40% off sale on select paper packs, stamp sets and embellishments starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. Gee with all this free publicity I'm giving her; I think I should get free shipping, don't you? LOL

Love ya Krista and I hope you enjoy blogging as much as I do!

Another great mail day today!

This is the stamp I won on Sally's blog last month. This is Cake Maggie and I can picture myself stamping her up for a Birthday card. Maggie is a clear stamp which I prefer over rubber stamps for the simple reason that you can see exactly where it will be placed on the paper. Thank you Sally!

I ordered these 2 stamps from High Hopes which is a Canadian stamp company located in Sarnia. I got the tulips cuz I'm Dutch and proud of it!

My 3 1/2 yr. old granddaughter received her very 1st pair of skates for Christmas and this stamp reminds me of her. Sierra cannot skate as yet but is having lots of fun trying. Her parents told her to expect lots of falls before she gets the hang of skating and made sure she also had all the protective gear required - including a hockey helmet! When she came home from her 1st attempt at skating, her Mom asked her if she had fun skating. Sierra matter of factly corrected her and said, "I didn't go skating, I went falling!" LOL

High Hopes also sent me these 2 stamps even though I did not order them. I think they made a mistake so have emailed them to ask. I like both stamps. A Hippo ballerina is sure to put a smile on anyone`s face. The Canadian mountie, beaver and Moose are also a great stamp to have if are a proud Canadian. I became a Canadian Citizen in the 60`s so I am also a proud Canadian.

Edited to add that High Hopes replied to my email to say that they are a gift - will definitely be ordering from them again. I like companies that value your business.

JERSEY BOYS!

My son Mike and his main squeeze Sandra bought us tickets to see "The Jersey Boys" as a Christmas gift. DH & I went to the show last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were rockin' to the tunes of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons throughout the entire show. If you get a chance to see them, go! I promise you won't be disappointed. The actors who played the 4 Seasons were awesome and sounded a lot like the original group. I learned a lot about the group that I did not know before and am now looking for a CD with all their top hits.

Thanks Sandra and Mike - you ROCK!

Sarah Kay Images.

While watching TV, I cannot sit still. I have to be doing something with my hands. I'm either cross stitching or knitting. I don't watch TV very often but I got bored today so stamped these Images and coloured them in while watching TV. Not sure how I am going to incorporate them on a card as yet.

I really like how these turned out even though all I used was pencil crayons (colored pencils).
The 1st image reminds me of my granddaughter Sierra (3 1/2) who helps her little sister Brooke take off her hat and coat when they arrive at Day Care. This image is called A Little Help from Margot. Sierra and Brooke do fight occasionally but they really love each other and can play quite well together. They love to play dress up with their Mommy.

The 2nd image is My Sweet Lilli and it reminds me of my granddaughter Brooke (18 mos.). Brooke loves her babies (dolls) and will spend hours playing with them. She has everything a Mommy needs to look after her "babies". She has a high chair, stroller complete with car seat/carrier and also a baby sling carrier. She also plays with the cradle that her mother played with as a little girl. She even feeds and "nurses" her babies. She isn't quite old enough to wrap her babies in a blanket and the last time I was at their house, I must have wrapped her baby up in a blanket at least a dozen times or more and my husband did as well.

2 More Valentine cards

This card was really easy to make. I had the pink square on it as a square then decided it would look better if I turned it around in the diamond shape. I think it looks much nicer now.

I made this card for my granddaughter Sierra. I'm not too keen on the colouring I did but green is her favourite colour so I'm sure she will love it.

We love Candy!

Bev is celebraiting 100,000 (WOW) hits on her blog.
She is celebrating in a big way with lots of goodies which can be seen on her blog. While you're there, don't forget to check out all her fabulous creations. She is one very talented lady!
She will be picking a lucky winner of all the delicious candy on the 17th. Good luck everyone!

Sick day

I was diagnosed with Thrush on Friday. I have a cold which started last week and on Thurs. night I could not get to sleep as my throat was extremely sore. I finally caved in and took some Buckley's Mixture night time cold pills. I slept then, but when I woke up, my throat was still very sore. I was sure that I had strep throat. I tried to get an appt. to see my family doctor but he was booked solid. I went to a walk in clinic and the doctor there looked at my throat, listened to my chest, checked my ears and then told me my chest was clear, my glands were not swollen but there were white spots on the back of my tongue and at the top of my throat. She told me I had Thrush. I have never had Thrush so was very surprised to hear that. She wrote out a prescription for a liquid medication and she told me to take 40 ml. 4x/day. I have to swish it around my mouth and then spit it out but she also said I could swallow it as well after swishing for 30 seconds. She also gave me a pain killing mouth wash that I gargle and then spit out. I was pretty miserable all weekend with pain, fever and generally just feeling like crap. I decided to stay home at least one more day to give the medicine a chance to work and to get some rest.

I had noticed on Wed. and Thurs. that my tongue was sore especially the back of my tongue and also around the edge of the front of my tongue and thought I might be getting a canker sore. Strep throat occurs when the natural balance between yeasts and other bacteria is disturbed and which causes fungus to grow. Oral Thrush is very common amongst babies and nursing babies can pass it on to their mother's nipples. Another form of this infection can be found in other parts of the body as well including the vagina and it causes vaginitis more commonly known as a yeast infection. This infection also causes diaper rash.

A good preventative food to eat to maintain an even balance is all natural unsweetened yogurt which contains acidophilus which protects against the invasion of harmful bacteria and yeast.

I feel a lot better today than I did on the weekend and am looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

2nd Valentine Card

I made this card yesterday morning. It was a very easy card to make but I like how it turned out.

The card stock is from DCWV (Die cuts with a view) Floral embossed cards.

The hearts are Craft Works shimmer shapes - chipboard that I attached with foam tape.

The sentiment came in a small "compact style" package with other valentine images. I do not know the name of the company that made it.

3 going on 13

I just read this post on my daughter's blog and I am ROFL! Too funny! What a Diva!

Sierra just cracks me up sometimes.

Great mail day today!

NO BILLS! Gotta love that!

Just before New Year's I ordered 4 Sarah Kay clear stamps, 2 cuttlebug folders and 2 Spellbinders Nestibilities from 2 different Canadian companies. I ordered the stamps from this store and the Spellbinders from this store.

I was extremely pleased with the quick service from both companies.

The 4 Sarah Kay stamps I got are: My sweet Lili which reminds me of my 18 m. old granddaughter as she loves playing with her "babies."
I got A little help from Margot as it reminds me of my 3 yr. old granddaughter who helps the 18 month old when my DD drops them off at Day Care. I also got Puppy love and Picnic Time.

I got the hearts and allegro (music notes) cuttle bug folders and the hearts nestibilities and the stars shapeabilities.

I can't wait to play with them!

If you are Canadian and appreciate fast and efficient service, don't hesitate to order from either of these companies. I am in no way affiliated with either of these companies but just a happy customer who won't hesitate to recommend any company who provides good service. By the same token, if I'm not happy with a company I won't hesitate to say so either.

Calling all Canadian Paper Crafters!

Here is her blog: Nancy's Creative Mess.

Last card for 2008 and 1st card for 2009

Hubby's birthday was on Dec. 22nd and this is the card I made for him using the Birthday Cuttlebug folder. This was a very easy card to make, but I struggled with the silver ribbon quite a bit as it was shiny and slippery. He liked the card I made for him. I also made him a gift card holder and when I find it, I will post a picture of it.

I decided to try a sketch challenge and while blog surfing, came upon this sketch which appealed to me. You can read all about it on Leigh's blog which can be found here. Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

Products used: Papers by Imaginisce Fairest of them All.

Stamps: Valentine Clear Stamps from Ink-a-Dinka-Doo

Clear Rhinestones from Queen & Co.

Ink: Archival Inks - Maroon.

Punches: Heart punch by Fiskars and for the corners I used Fiskars 4 way punch and embossing. The 4 way punch has 4 different corner punches and they also emboss if you press down hard enough. If you click on the card, you will be able to see the hearts on the cream paper with the maroon heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and as a fairly new paper crafter; I am pleased at how this turned out.

Edited to add that I also entered this card for Ingrid's draw for some blog candy.
